The village Kelardasht is located in Northern Iran, south of the Caspian Sea, near the mountains Alborz. In Kelardasht wonderful carpets are woven. The production, however, is small. The design of Kelardasht rugs is usually composed of a hexagon or an octagon, sometimes supplemented by depicting a scarab in the middle. In the central part of the carpet, there are simple, linear ornaments as well as flowers.

The colors of these carpets are herbal and are often deep red with dark blue-black and brown dominate the carpets. The pile is woven with thick, soft wool and the warp is made of cotton. These rugs are very durable.
